This was a very effective lesson plan. Personally I did not learn to much about the Revolutionary War in school teachers were so rushed to teach it that they forgot to make it fun. So my head was always wrapped around the facts instead of learning how or why the colonial army won. I had never even thought of it. I could spew off facts, which is not a very high level of thinking according to Blooms taxonomy. This tug of war game was a good example of the struggle between the British Army and the Colonial Army. At first when it was just us four little ones I was thinking to my self what is she trying to prove. Then as the rules started changing I started realizing we were the Colonial Army. We were smaller and had less equipment. Then they lost half of there people because they needed to bring reinforcements from over seas. Then we gained France , Germany , and Spain . The war was then over and the smaller less equipped people won and gained chocolate which symbolized freedom and land.

I enjoyed the teaching strategies I felt as if it was something everyone could benefit and learn from. I think people with all cognitive abilities could learn from this lesson. People who are higher functioning would enjoy the activity and still learn. We are in college and we still enjoyed it. Children who are lower functioning could also benefit though the hands on activity. This puts things into perspective for children. They can see what actually happened in the war and understand how the colonial army ended up winning. This shows them in a visual way what happened. It gives children a chance to bring what happened into the room. I would love to use something like this in my lesson plan. I think it was a great idea and things like this should be used more often.

Many of Howard Gardeners Multiple Intelligences were used in this lesson plan. Visual and spatial was used when the children were playing tug of war. They were able to visualize what happened and see what happened though a game. Verbal and linguistic was also used when we read the packet and found answers to questions. We then talked about each answer. Bodily Kinesthetic was another one of the multiple intelligences used. This was used by the children who were playing the game. They were learning by doing it and moving around. Interpersonal was the last multiple intelligence used in this lesson. Children would have to work in groups and plan things out. This lesson was very good at getting several multiple intelligences. This is important because all children learn differently. What works for one child might not work for the other. This way several different ways of learning are used and different kind of learners can learn.
